What a great day Sunday the 19th of July turned out to be!
In absolutely perfect winter weather the airfield was treated to a spectacular display of vintage aircraft beginning with the formation arrival of multiple biplanes which set the ambience for the day.
Some eight Tigers, a Moth Major, Gipsy Moth, Auster and a Chipmunk represented the finest of British period machines. The Genairo was almost the sole Aussie machine if you count the Victa Airtourer hiding in my hangar.
The TAVAS Fokker Triplane added colour and panache to the line up as it always does.
A couple of round tail Cessnas, Piper Vagabond, a Champ, Stearman and Ryan STM (that could only be viewed through welding goggles) rounded out the Americana aircraft.
I would like to personally sincerely thank everyone who attended, those who brought their aircraft for us all to enjoy as well as Marylou who captured the day in photographs.
The aircraft all 28, looked magnificent and show little of the age we pilots who fly them show!
Kilcoy is a great field for old aeroplanes and to my mind is at its best hosting a low key grass roots event such as this.
We filled all available parking and enjoyed catching up with old friends as we elbow bumped our way around sharing the bond of our common passion.
It also excites me that we are soon to have permanently on the field two more Tigers and a Genairco as well as the recently arrived brace of beautiful Cessna 180's.
